Registry Department

REGISTRY DEPARTMENT

The Registry is the nerve centre of the Institute. All records of Personnel, Students and Assets of the Institute are in the custody of the Department. The Department is also responsible for all issues relating to Appointments, Promotions, Discipline, Training and Social Welfare of all Staff, Participants and Students of the Institute. The Department to a great extent assist the Director General/Chief Executive in the routine administration of the Institute.

Units In the Registry Department

There are four (4) Units in the Registry Department. They are Academic, Administration, Personnel and the Medical Centre.

Academic Unit

  • The Unit receives applications for admissions and processes same for the various programmes of the Institute.
  • The Academic Secretary is in charge of all matters relating to Students and Participants and equals as the Secretary to the Institute’s Academic Boards.
  • The unit interfaces with various Consultants on the Institutes Distance Learning Programs
  • It processes transcripts for all graduands of the Institute.
  • The Unit issued out examination cards to all registered Participants to the Institute for Examination.

Administration Unit

  • The Unit engages in the day to day general administration and the interpretations of government instruments for the Registrar.
  • It liaised with the Pension Transitional Arrangement Department (PTAD) on the welfare of the Institute’s Pensioners.
  • The Unit facilitates regular contacts with the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federal, Accountant General of the Federation (AGF), Federal Ministry of Transport (FMOT) and the IPPIS’ Offices on matters relating to personnel.
  • The Unit interfaces with the NYSC Zonal Inspector on issues relating to corps members posted to the Institute.
  • The Unit ensures regular contacts with the Federal Character Commission on behalf of the Institute.
  • The Unit contacts the National Pension Commission on Pension matter.
  • The Unit keeps regular contacts with Pension Fund Administrators and insurance companies’ on behalf of the Institute’s staff.
  • The Unit processed staff applications for registration on the Platforms of the National Housing Fund (NHF) and the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

Personnel Unit

The following are some key functions of the Unit.

  • The Units takes custody of all records of Personnel and Fixed and Movable Assets of the Institute
  • It takes charge of the following:
  • Disciplinary Matters/Issues
  • Issues of Secondments
  • Training and re-training for members of Staff (where applicable)
  • Resignations, Retirements and Transfer

Medical Centre

The Medical centre is one of the Units in the Registry Department and has the Registrar as its Head of Department and the Deputy Chief Medical Officer as the Head of Unit. Total staff strength currently stands at twenty (20) comprising of the Medical Officer, six (6) Nursing Officer, a Pharmacist, a Medical Records Officer, two (2) Administrative Officers, a Laboratory Technician, a Community Health Officer and Assistant, a Clerical Assistant, a Driver and three (3) Cleaners. In addition there is a visiting Physician from the Sick Bay, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and four (4) Youth Corps Members serving in different Units of the centre. The Unit currently runs two shift duties between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm Mondays –Fridays and a single short of 8.00am -1.00pm weekends and during public holidays.

Mandates

The Centre’s soul, mandate is to ensure a healthy workforce for the staff, family members and student population of the Institute both here in the Headquarters and various Liaison Offices.

Staffs of the centre are also involved in awareness creation of health issues relating to transportation.

The centre carries out the following functions to individuals that come:-

  • General Medical Consultation
  • Nursing services
  • Laboratory services
  • Pharmaceutical services
  • Ambulance services

  • To bring health care services closer to the people
  • To offer quality health care services to our clienteles at affordable prices
  • To ensure a customer focused satisfaction drive with a mind of ensuring that whoever come to our centre is satisfied with our services and the products we offer
  • To collaborate with other health care providers within our area such as College of Aviation Medical Centre, ABU sick bay and ABUTH Shika, Zaria.
