Procurement Unit
The Procurement Unit of the Institute was created in 2007 following a Federal Government Circular directing all Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to implement the take-off of Procurement Departments/Units and establish Procurement Cadre in accordance with the Public Procurement Act 2007.
The principal goal of the Unit is to carry out procurement activities in line with the Public Procurement Act 2007 in order to minimize cost and achieve value for money for the Institute.
The Unit is one of the seven (7) units under the Director General/Chief Executive Office with the following functions
- Procurement Planning
- Tendering and Evaluation
- Performance Monitoring and Evaluation
Mission
To ensure strict compliance with the guidelines of Public Procurement Act 2007 and facilitate the activities of the Institute through providing adequate information, build, promote and maintain mutually beneficial relationship between the Institute and it’s stakeholders

To be a reference point for excellent service delivery for the Institute, our stakeholders and the general public.
Service Provision
- To ensure that Procurement activities are carried out in line with PPA 2007
- To inform and educate our stakeholders towards enhancing and sustaining a positive image of the Institute.
- Meeting up with Governmental and Institutional requirements on the implementation of the Institute’s projects.
- To provide support for effective management of the Institute’s activities.
- To ensure prompt and timely update of relevant procurement information on the Institute’s website.
- To enlighten relevant stakeholders on the activities of the institute and sustain cordial relationships with stakeholders.
Service Delivery
In discharging the above services, the unit promptly attends to other departmental/Units needs and enquiries.
The unit ensures at all times that services are discharged in consonance with the Public Procurement Act 2007.

Achievements of the Unit
Having the Public Procurement Act guidelines which directs MDAs to establish Procurement Unit and Procurement Cadre, Staff of the Unit have attended and passed the Procurement Cadre Conversion Training which makes them more effective and efficient in carrying out their tasks which in turn;

- The Unit has overcome the issue of project abandonment as it only engage competent and reputable contractors.
- Procurement proceedings are Fair and Transparent.
- All projects are awarded within the DG/CE and Tenders Board Threshold.
- There is a hundred percent (100%) adherence with the Public Procurement Act 2007.
