The Honourable Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’id Ahmed Alkali, has approved the appointment of Mal. Umar Ahmed Ibrahim as Acting Director, Consultancy Services Department, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria. The approval was contained in a letter dated 9th August, 2024.
Prior to this appointment, Mal. Umar Ahmed Ibrahim who joined the services of NITT in 1991, was the Head, Consultancy Services Department. In the course of his illustrious career, which has spanned over three decades, he served in different critical capacities and departments. Notable among them were: Liaison Officer, Abuja Office; Head, Special Duties/Annexes; Programme Coordinator/Resource Person, and Personal Assistant to the former DG/CE (1992), among others. His expertise further extends into the field of practical fleet management, when in 2011, he served as the Managing Director/CEO, Yankari Transport Company, Bauchi State.
Mal. Umar, who holds a B.Sc. in Sociology/Economics from Bayero University, Kano (1984) and MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (2004), amongst other qualifications, is a Fellow, Chartered Institute of Transport Administration of Nigeria (CIOTA), and a member of several professional bodies including CILT.
Fondly referred to as Fagaci, he is married with children. The DG/CE, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, while congratulating him, noted that the appointment is a testament to his dedication to duty and competence. He charged him to bring his vast experience to bear in further propelling NITT towards its vision of providing world-class professional training, research, advice and solutions to all issues relating to transportation in Nigeria and indeed Africa.
