Transport School

NITT, Zaria
TRANSPORT SCHOOL

Since its establishment in 1990, Transport School department of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) has been grooming logistics and transport managers and leaders professionally for Nigeria and the West African sub-region. This is one of the core departments of the Institute that have the mandate of organizing long term professional programs for the development of professional competences of prospective and substantive managers and leaders in transport and logistics. The Department carries out this mandate through residential and distance learning programs.

Philosophy of the Programs

The need for internationally and nationally agreed and accepted standards of occupational competencies in the Transport and Logistics business has gained wide ground and has now found greater acceptance within the entire industry in Nigeria. It is in response to this that the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), the leading and foremost Transport and Logistics training provider in the country has repositioned itself to initiate the development of such standards for all sub-sectors and all levels of employment in the transport industry.

The Institute’s long-term training programs and the professional qualifications obtainable from them are fashioned and packaged in a unique manner but in conformity with international standards as defined by The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport international (CILT Int.) which is the `lead body` responsible for standard setting of skills in the industry across the world.

NITT therefore offers a new approach to obtaining internationally recognized professional qualifications in Transport and Logistics, which must be of interest to employers, and employees in the industry. The philosophy of training at NITT is to place a balance on systematic theoretical knowledge and on the real and necessary ability to actually do a job. NITT qualifications therefore, offer participants high skill development courses rather than purely knowledge-based curricula.
