Stakeholders across Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector gathered in Abuja today for the Nigeria Transport and Logistics Summit 2025, convened to address current challenges and explore future opportunities in developing sustainable transport infrastructure nationwide.

Organised by the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), the high-level summit was held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, under the theme: “Building Sustainable Transport and Logistics Infrastructure in Nigeria: Current Trends and Future Insights.”

In his keynote address, the Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali, described transportation as the lifeblood of the nation’s economy, emphasising that the sector’s challenges can be overcome through strategic investment, sound policy reforms, and robust stakeholder collaboration.

Highlighting the current administration’s commitment to revitalising the sector, Senator Alkali called for a unified approach to mobilising resources, fostering innovation, and building a resilient and future-ready transport system.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Director General/Chief Executive of NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, noted that the summit serves as a platform to shape a forward-looking agenda for the sector.

“NITT’s vision is to support Nigeria’s transformation into a hub of efficient, sustainable, and technology-driven transport and logistics systems,” Dr. Farah stated. He stressed the importance of aligning with global best practices while tailoring solutions to address Nigeria’s specific infrastructural and operational gaps in the transport sector. Dr. Farah also advocated for the urgent adoption of a National Integrated Transport Master Plan anchored on sustainability, human capital development, and innovation.

The event featured goodwill messages from Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, and President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, among others.

Prominent speakers and panelists included Mr. Ifedayo Ajayi (AfCFTA), Mr. Gana Joseph (NASRDA), Dr. James Akwe (ICRC), Mr. Adeniyi Dada (digital economy consultant), and Mr. Jide Awolowo (P-CNGI).
