The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Samaru Division, Nigeria Police, CSP Atiku I. Mohammad, on Monday, 5th May, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, to discuss ways of strengthening security ties.
Welcoming the DPO, the Director General/Chief Executive of NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, stated that the Samaru Divisional Police and NITT had a long-standing, cordial relationship. He, however, observed that the changing demography within the Institute occasioned by expansion in programmes and facilities had thrown up thorny security concerns.
Speaking further, the DG/CE noted that the influx of people patronising the Institute’s lodging facilities was also a concern. He maintained that the Institute’s best efforts at controlling the prevailing security situation had hitherto not yielded the desired results. He, therefore, implored the DPO to assist the Institute in curbing its security challenges.
In his remarks, the DPO, Samaru Division, CSP Atiku Mohammed Mohammed, asserted that the Nigeria Police were being overhauled, which would help to win the trust and confidence of the citizentry.
The DPO praised NITT for its hospitality, and assured that he would do everything in his power to curb crime and criminality within and around NITT.
