The newly posted Zaria Unit Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander, Nasiru Abdullahi Falgore, has paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria. The familiarisation visit also opened new vistas of collaboration.
Welcoming the new Zaria Commander to the Institute, the Director General/Chief Executive, NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, noted that the FRSC and NITT had had a mutually beneficial, long-standing relationship. “The relationship between NITT and FRSC dates back a long time ago. We’ve had many programmes, projects, and research together,” Dr. Farah said.
The DG/CE further disclosed that in a recent meeting he had with the Corps Marshall, FRSC, Shehu Mohammed, “we agreed that we’re going to explore new areas of collaboration.” These new areas of partnership, he disclosed, would take cognizance of the transformation and expansion the Institute had witnessed in the recent past. According to the DG/CE, “NITT has developed a very large portion of training programmes that cut across various fields of transportation”. Continuing, he stated that “before now, NITT was involved in graduate and professional programmes; but in the past two to three years, NITT has moved to another level by including NVC, ND, and HND programmes.”
He stressed that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) approved programmes were designed to cater to the growing training needs in the industry. The NITT Boss, therefore, urged the new Zaria Unit Commander to take advantage of the programmes, as well as make positive recommendations to the FRSC management.
Speaking earlier, the newly posted Zaria Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander, Nasiru Abdullahi, thanked NITT for the numerous support it had been rendering to the Command, noting that NITT had positively impacted the FRSC, especially in the area of manpower development.
In his words: “Indeed, NITT has helped to shape most of FRSC’s activities in the country because the Institute has trained a lot of FRSC personnel in road transportation.” He therefore sought the continuation of the collaboration.
