The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), has made a strong case against the review of the Federal Road Safety Commission Act to accommodate driver training and road transport administration and control, which infringe on part of the statutory mandate of NITT, the Federal Ministry of Transportation and States Vehicle Administration and Traffic Management agencies, thus reiterating the Institute’s position during its retreat held in 2019.
This follows an invitation from the House of Representatives Committee on FRSC to the Institute, being a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s transport and logistics industry, to make an input at the Public Hearing on the review of the FRSC 2007 Act, which was held earlier today at NAF Conference Centre, Abuja.
As part of its submission, NITT encouraged FRSC to synergize with all major stakeholders/ institutions at all levels of government to promote road safety on Nigerian roads.
The Director, Transport Technology Centre, Dr. Joshua A. Odeleye, represented NITT’s Director-General, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, FCILT, at the hearing.
He was accompanied by the Bursar, Mr. Hassan Lanre Abudulkadir; the Special Assistant to the DG/CE, Mr. Sani Barau; and Engr. Inuwa Bilyaminu.
