President Tinubu Renews Dr. Bayero Salih Farah’s Tenure As DG/CE, NITT

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reappointment of the DG/CE, NITT, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah for a second tenure.

The reappointment which was contained in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, reads, ” I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved the renewal of your appointment as Director General/ Chief Executive, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Zaria for a second and final term of four (4) years in accordance with the provisions of Section 7(1), (2) and (4) of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology Act, 1986 CAP 116, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

The letter further states, “this appointment is with effect from 13th January, 2024 and your emoluments and other Conditions of Service shall be as provided under the NITT Act.”

Dr. Farah possesses an impressive track record of sterling, exceptional performance which has led to the massive and unprecedented transformation of NITT, unrivaled since the inception of the Institute in 1986.

The DG/CE, who holds a PhD from the University of Huddersfield, United Kingdom, joined the services of NITT in 1994 as a Senior Staff Development Officer, having earlier worked as a classroom teacher and later as a National Population Census Cartographic Officer. By sheer dint of hard work, he rose through the ranks to the position of a Director in NITT in 2013 and then substantive DG/CE on 13th January 2020.

It is anticipated that his reappointment will see to the expansion of the Institute’s scope of operation, as well as the completion of the liaison offices spread across the six geo-political zones.
