The Director, Transport School, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, Dr Ibrahim Baba Mundi, has stated that the Institute is on a transition. Dr Mundi revealed this at a seminar organised to equip the participants with the prerequisite knowledge and skills to write internationally acceptable papers.
“The DG/CE, Dr Bayero Salih Farah, has directed that the seminar take a new dimension; and we are trying to perfect his directives”, Dr Mundi said. Speaking further, he observed that “the Institute is transiting from a purely professional transport and logistics training and research Institute to more of an academic institution.” He also noted that the Institute wanted to even transcend beyond conventional universities.
Part of the transition process was capacity building, and that necessitated the seminar presentation. Dr S.U. Gidado presented three papers on the following topics: ‘How to Write an Academic Paper for Publication in a Journal’; ‘How to Prepare a PowerPoint Presentation’; Cargo Risk Management in International Transport and Logistics.’ The first two dealt with the standard methods of writing, presenting and publishing an academic paper, while the last (notwithstanding its conspicuous didactic thrust) was used to demonstrate the lessons of the preceding two papers.
