The Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT) has donated an 800kv electricity transformer to residents of Anguwan Fulani New Extension, a neighbouring community in Palladan, Zaria, Kaduna State.
Speaking during the official presentation of the transformer to representatives of Anguwan Fulani at the NITT headquarters in Zaria, NITT’s Director General/Chief Executive, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, said the donation of the transformer was a demonstration of the Institute’s commitment to its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as well as a mark of good neighbourliness.
Dr. Farah maintained that reaching out to communities in need “is sanctioned by the Federal Government”, adding that NITT was not doing anything new. He, therefore, called on all well meaning public and private organisations to support the good causes of communities in their areas of operation.
“We will continue to support the Community in whatever way possible”, he reiterated.
Dr. Farah also urged the representatives of Anguwan Fulani to ensure that only professionals are engaged to install and maintain the transformer for optimal performance.
Receiving the transformer, the Chairman, Anguwan Fulani New Extension Association, Mr. Jonah Yakubu Mori, thanked the DG/CE and his entire Management for the kind gesture, noting that lack of transformer had been the bane of electricity supply in the Area for years.
Mr. Mori also revealed that the community had written to many organisations in Zaria to request for support towards providing a transformer in the Area to no success. “Our joy knew no bound when we received the news that NITT had offered to donate a transformer to our community”, he added
